An alert was issued by the Tacoma Park Police Department on Friday, March 17 advising of a recent incident involving a woman who was assaulted after a date gone wrong in Ward 5.
At approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, officers from the department were called to the 7700 block of Maple Avenue, where there was a report of a cutting incident, a spokesperson for the agency said.
Upon arrival, officers found a woman who had lacerations on her leg.
During the investigation into the slashing, it was also determined that the woman was allegedly sexually assaulted after meeting the suspect on an unidentified online dating application.
The suspect was able to flee the scene before officers arrived, officials said. The woman was transported by paramedics to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries and evaluation.
According to the police, a suspect has been identified and an arrest warrant has been issued related to the sexual assault and assault.
